Gyumri Area Development Programme
World Vision’s first ADP in Armenia was established in 2000 in Gyumri, the second largest city in the North-West of the country that suffered tremendously after the earthquake of 1988.
Kapan Area Development Programme
In 2003 World Vision started Kapan ADP in the South of the remote and mountainous Syunik region, where the difficult economic situation was aggravated by the armed conflict with neighboring Azerbaijan over Nagorno Karabakh issue, and blockade of the main transport links.
Talin Area Development Programme
Located at 2,300 meters above sea level, Talin region is known for extremely cold and long winters as well as heavy snowfalls that cut off remote villages for several weeks.
Sisian Area Development Programme
Once a highly developed industrial and agricultural area, the region of Syunik deteriorated drastically as a result of Armenia’s challenging economic and social transition caused by the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Stepanavan Area Development Programme
Stepanavan ADP, Lori region, was established in 2004, one of the poorest regions in Armenia bordering with Georgia.
Tavush Area Development Programme
Tavush ADP was launched in 2002 in the North-Eastern region of Armenia bordering Azerbaijan. The majority of the population in Tavush lives below the poverty line.
Vardenis Area Development Programme
Located on the highlands in the North East of Lake Sevan, Gegharkunik region is heavily populated by refugees from Azerbaijan. The majority of the population comes from urban areas, and is not accustomed to rural lifestyle.
GAVAR AREA DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Gavar is located in the highlands in the South of Lake Sevan, Gegharkunik Marz. During the Soviet era the region was highly industrialized and after the breakdown of the factories and industrial facilities, a great number of qualified specialists became unemployed.
Alaverdi AREA DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Alaverdi district is situated in the North-East of Lori Marz, consisting of 27 rural and 4 urban communities. World Vision Armenia initiated a three-month assessment in Alaverdi region that has revealed the regional socio-economic weaknesses.
Yerevan Area Development Programme
Yerevan is the capital city of Armenia. There are 1,119,000 people living in Yerevan. Nowadays it is a dynamically developing city; however, there are still areas where socially vulnerable people and children live.
Aparan Area Development Programme
Aparan region is located in the Aragatsotn province, about 50 kilometers north-north-west of Yerevan. It is mainly populated by Armenians. The majority of the population is involved in husbandry and horticulture using whatever means possible for land cultivation.
