The project is funded by the British Government through World Vision UK. It aims at development and promotion of inclusive education in all areas of Syunik region (marz), through developing local capacities and increasing the role of local educators.
At the initial stage, 4 schools from Syunik were chosen to promote inclusive education. By developing the capacity of these schools, they have now become resource schools for other mainstream schools. Currently 4 more schools from the region are included in the project. Trainings are being organized for teachers and children from the resource schools, while they will later pass their gained knowledge and skills to their colleagues and friends.
The project supported the establishment of 2 branches of Yerevan Multidisciplinary Child Assessment Center in Stepanavan and Kapan, thus making assessment of children’s educational needs available in northern and southern regions of Armenia.
Awareness raising events on Inclusive education enhanced not only attitude change towards children with special needs but also supported legislation/policy change in terms of revision of the National Plan of Action on Child Protection as well as Law on Mainstream Education.
