Child Sponsorship

Child sponsorship is a way of raising long term support for children whilst providing a rich and rewarding experience to donors.

World Vision believes that the best way to help a child is through their family and community. Child sponsorship establishes a relationship between a donor and a single child in a way that personalises the challenges of community development while allowing donors to see how their money is making a difference to the life of an individual child, family and their community. Sponsorship helps provide community necessities such as access to education, health care, immunisation and clean water.

Child sponsorship funds are used to run development projects that World Vision calls Area Development Programmes (ADPs). ADPs aim to empower communities and help build capacity so that the community itself retains ownership of the development process. The community decides on its development priorities and works alongside World Vision to achieve its goals. ADPs are integrated and holistic and involve initiatives in health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, landmines, and income generation, according to communities’ own needs.

Sponsorship in Armenia started in October 2000 and currently works in 11 ADPs with total number of sponsored children 23.150.

Child Sponsorship brings about tangible changes for Armenia’s needy communities sponsored children live in.

World Vision believes that all children are created in the image of God.  Thus, every child born into the world has a God-given right to protection, physical, mental and spiritual development and the opportunity to enjoy a full life.
