Area Development Programs (ADPs) are multi-sectoral programs that focus on well-being of children, and entail 15 years’ commitment to communities. ADPs are predominantly funded through child sponsorship. ADPs are focused on encouraging community participation and ownership in addressing the needs of the most marginalized and vulnerable groups. The projects implemented with the active involvement of communities aim to improve the level of food security and nutrition, ensure access to education and healthcare for children, promote their spiritual development, rehabilitation of living conditions and infrastructure in communities, and income generation. |
Yerevan is the capital city of Armenia. There are 1,107,800 people living in Yerevan. Nowadays it is a dynamically developing city; however, there are still areas where socially vulnerable people and children live.
Based on the socio-economic situation, density of vulnerable population in one area, vulnerability rate, unemployment rate, existence of minority groups, Kanaker-Zeytun (with a population of 78,700) district has been selected as the Yerevan ADP area.
There is a high rate of unemployment, migration and risk of trafficking and HIV/AIDS spreading in this area, the infrastructure (sewage system) is not in place in Kanaker, there are minority groups in the area.
